SOLD - SOLD - SOLD......
Up for sale is my RZ500.
This bike is unregistered, unencumbered, and currently not running.
It has lost spark for some unknown reason.
We are in the process of tracing down the fault. Problem is in between Start / Stop switch and CDI unit.
In bewteen the decribed points, the wires run through micro switches for the stand, servo motor, and dissapear through all different avenues.
The bike itself is in very good condition for it's age - 25 years.
A few cosmetic fixups are needed to bring her back to A1 - as follows.
Front brake master cylinder needs a free up. It can be returned, but just grabs a bit when pressed.
No fairing with it, just the side exhaust covers as in pictures. As you can see, it's had a slow put down in the rain.
This happened at a small intersection turning right and ran over some roadwork gravel.
Frame, swingarm, and handlebars were not twisted in the mishap. Just the usual scrapes and the exhaust dented.
Everything works (Lights, blinkers, dash etc.)
The Exhausts have recently been decoked, but again, i havn't been able to blow them out because of no spark - pain !!!
Has loads of compression on all four cylinders.
No piston slap at all.
Gearbox perfect - no whining, gear or bearing noises.
Bike has been completely dissasembled and frame powder coated in gunmetal grey - looks great.
Engine screws have been replaced with stainless allen heads
Wheels could do with a respray if needed, otherwise there still ok.
Tyres are near new. Rear sprocket was replaced with a slightly larger one.
I felt these bikes didn't have the drive out of corners like the RG500, therefore the larger sprocket was used to hop her into the power band sooner - and what a difference it made, absolutely perfect.
Comes with spare power valve motor, same wires, different plug, but works fine when connected to 12 volts.
Also a detailed A3 colour wiring diagram - Imported from England.
Detailed parts book, with part numbers and exploded views - rare.
Has intake boxes and plenums - needs a few long securing bolts.
In ending, i sell this bike because i simply never ride it, nor will i ever be registering it again, plus i have an RG500 and 1100RC Honda, so i have enough bikes.
When i was riding this bike, it gave so much joy. It's truley like riding a GP bike i feel.
For those who are learners or inexperienced - THIS BIKE IS NOT for you.
This bike is a serious bike, with serious power delivery, and want's nothing more but to throw you off - while having lots of fun, lol.
Please no tyre kickers, it is a used bike, mechanically A1, and in my opinion, very good condition.
Anyone who are familiar with these bikes, know what they're capable of in terms of power and speed.
They are a true collectors peice (do your homework), they were based on Eddie Lawsons RZV500 GP bike from the eighties, and are becoming very rare indeed.
You can still pick up fairing peices for these off another site (not allowed to post on here), located all over the world. I've done a few sums on it, and once all original peices are collected, would cost arouns the $1200 dollar mark.
That was based on each fairing peice to be approx $260 and less.
So belly pan, two mid peices, top peice, side exhaust covers, and tail section. All then needed is the mirrors, radiator guard and small bits here and their.

All the best
